Daphne: Grieve the Laurel

£125.00

This collaborative piece by Larna and Jonathan was created for the Meander exhibition at Sussex Contemporary. Drawing on the myth of the nymph Daphne—who was transformed and erased when Apollo pursued her—the work reflects on themes of identity, power, and loss. It comments on how Daphne’s selfhood was consumed, absorbed into Apollo’s narrative and symbolised through his laurel crown.

The piece exemplifies the strength of their collaboration: Larna’s storytelling brings myth and meaning into focus, while Jonathan’s visual language anchors it in striking imagery. Together, they create a layered work with a resonance and depth that neither would achieve alone.
