The River
£125.00
The River is another collaborative work by Larna and Jonathan, created for the Meander exhibition at Sussex Contemporary. Drawing deeply on their personal experiences, the piece explores ideas of psychogeography and the emotional pull of place.
It depicts a specific point along the route between Hastings and Brighton—their hometown, where they first met and grew up. Here, the cycle path becomes a kind of “concrete river”: straight, unyielding, and relentless in its flow between the two places. Yet, as the viewer looks closer, nature is shown encroaching, reclaiming, and softening its edges. In this way, the work questions whether even the most rigid paths might bend, shift, and eddy like a living river.
